1. Overview of Agent Layers¶
Mobius agents exist in four hierarchical layers:
L4 — HIVE Layer (Global Coordination)
L3 — CORE Agents (Atlas, Aurea, Echo, Jade, Hermes, Zeus)
L2 — Domain Agents (Health, Finance, Policy, Education, Safety)
L1 — Local Agents (On-device memory, personal substrate)
Each higher layer supervises the layer beneath it using: - Reflection checkpoints - Integrity scoring (MIS / MII) - Consensus gating - Memory-anchored reasoning
2. Core Agents (L3)¶
These are the foundational agents of Mobius Systems.
2.1 ATLAS — Structural Reasoner¶
Role: Coherence, architecture, structural logic
Function: Ensures long-term architectural consistency across all Mobius systems.
Tagline: "Does the system make sense as a whole?"
Responsibilities¶
- Validate multi-agent reasoning graphs
- Check domain boundaries for bleed-over
- Enforce non-drift structural rules
- Evaluate emergent patterns for stability
- Approve/deny schema-level mutations
Integrity Hooks¶
- Fails if structural contradictions exceed threshold
- Participates in deep consensus cycles (weight: 0.20)
Interface¶
interface ATLASAgent {
validateStructure(graph: ReasoningGraph): ValidationResult;
checkCoherence(state: SystemState): CoherenceScore;
detectDrift(current: State, baseline: State): DriftReport;
approveSchemaChange(change: SchemaChange): ApprovalResult;
}
2.2 AUREA — Executive Function¶
Role: Operational oversight, safety, execution gates
Function: Controls action-gating and ensures downstream behaviors are safe & aligned.
Tagline: "Should this be executed?"
Responsibilities¶

}
2.3 ECHO — Retrieval & Evidence Sentinel¶
Role: Evidence validation, fact-checking, source ranking
Function: Ensures that Mobius outputs are grounded in verified sources.
Tagline: "Is this true enough to act on?"
Responsibilities¶

Interface¶
interface ECHOAgent {
retrieveEvidence(query: Query): EvidenceBundle;
validateSource(source: Source): CredibilityScore;
createRAGBundle(context: Context): RAGBundle;
rejectManipulation(content: Content): RejectionResult;
}
2.4 HERMES — Market & Temporal Analyst¶

}
2.5 JADE — Moral & Narrative Anchor¶
Role: Context, memory, moral anchoring, identity
Function: Maintains coherence of the user's narrative & long-term meaning.
Tagline: "Does this align with who we are?"
Responsibilities¶
- Maintain user-specific moral anchors
- Manage long-term identity memory (E.O.M.M.)
- Reconstruct coherence after drift events
- Convert reflections into formal memory entries
Integrity Hooks¶
- Prevents deviation from user-defined values

interface JADEAgent {
anchorIdentity(user: User): IdentityAnchor;
preserveNarrative(thread: Thread): NarrativeResult;
reconstructCoherence(driftEvent: DriftEvent): ReconstructionResult;
commitToMemory(reflection: Reflection): MemoryEntry;
}
2.6 ZEUS — Arbiter & Conflict Resolver¶
Role: Arbitration, adversarial testing, coherence enforcement
Function: Resolves agent conflicts and performs final ruling on all consensus failures.
Tagline: "If we disagree, I decide why."
Responsibilities¶
- Detect contradictions between agents
- Run adversarial tests on proposals
- Validate consensus quorum thresholds
- Apply constitutional rules when agents disagree
Integrity Hooks¶
- Triggered when consensus < 0.70
- Weight: 0.10, but override authority on conflict
Interface¶
interface ZEUSAgent {
arbitrateConflict(conflict: AgentConflict): ArbitrationResult;
runAdversarialTest(proposal: Proposal): TestResult;
validateQuorum(votes: Vote[]): QuorumResult;
applyConstitution(rule: ConstitutionalRule): EnforcementResult;
}
3. Consensus Mechanics Across Agents¶
Mobius uses a weighted consensus quorum, not majority voting.
Example Decision¶
ATLAS: 0.88
AUREA: 0.92
JADE: 0.83
ECHO: 0.75
HERMES: 0.70
ZEUS: 0.80
Weights: [0.20, 0.25, 0.20, 0.15, 0.10, 0.10]
Weighted MIS Consensus =
(0.88 × 0.20) + (0.92 × 0.25) + (0.83 × 0.20) +
(0.75 × 0.15) + (0.70 × 0.10) + (0.80 × 0.10)
= 0.176 + 0.230 + 0.166 + 0.1125 + 0.070 + 0.080
= 0.8345 → APPROVED
Thresholds¶
| Action Type | Required Consensus |
|---|---|
| Low Impact | ≥ 0.55 |
| Medium | ≥ 0.70 |
| High Impact | ≥ 0.85 |
| Irreversible | ≥ 0.92 + AUREA approval |
4. Drift Detection¶
Each agent monitors three types of drift:
4.1 Cognitive Drift¶
Deviations from expected reasoning structure
Detected by: ATLAS & AUREA
4.2 Moral Drift¶
Behavior diverges from Constitution / user values
Detected by: JADE
4.3 Evidence Drift¶
Source credibility degradation
Detected by: ECHO
4.4 Temporal Drift¶
Prediction error compounding
Detected by: HERMES
Drift Response Protocol¶
When drift exceeds threshold (0.15 typical):
→ Slow mode
→ Reflection checkpoint
→ Consensus review
→ Memory reconstruction if needed
5. Agent Interface Contract (AIC)¶
All Mobius agents must implement the following:
5.1 Required Methods¶
interface MobiusAgent {
name: string;
domain: string;
trustWeight: number;
reflect(input: ReasoningBundle): ReflectionReport;
evaluate(input: IntentBundle): EvaluationScore;
act(input: ActionProposal): ActionResult;
escalate(reason: string): EscalationReport;
}
5.2 Required Logs¶
- Reflection logs
- Drift logs
- Consensus votes
- Reasoning artifacts
- MIS/MII impact reports
5.3 Required Compliance¶
Agents must comply with: - The Mobius Constitution - The Integrity Before Intelligence Specification - The KTT Evaluation Framework - The Drift-Safe Reasoning Protocol

8. Roadmap for New Agents¶
Mobius allows community-built agents via: - mobius-agent-template - agent-manifest.json - local_substrate.yaml
A new agent must: 1. Define domain 2. Define trust weight 3. Integrate drift hooks 4. Pass KTT structural coherence tests 5. Pass adversarial stress tests (ZEUS) 6. Pass constitutional compliance checks 7. Produce valid reasoning artifacts

10. Summary¶
The Mobius Multi-Agent Architecture provides:
- Distributed cognition — No single point of failure
- Specialized expertise — Each agent has a domain
- Weighted consensus — Not majority voting
- Drift resistance — Continuous monitoring
- Constitutional compliance — Built-in guardrails
